2 Peter 1:19-21

2 Peter 1:19-21 (KJV) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Gathering of The Eagles

In His Olivet discourse in 30 AD Jesus nominated certain SIGNS that would indicate the impending destruction of Jerusalem. This was fulfilled exactly 40 years later in 70 AD. One of the signs He mentioned was that the EAGLES would be gathered together (Matthew 24:28). Many are unaware of the fact that there is a vital prophetic significance in His statement that not only seen fulfilment during the time of the destruction of Jersualem by the Roman armies under Titus, but again in this age, we see the gathering of the "Eagle" nations encompassing Jerusalem; a sure sign of the impending end of the age we live in now.

EAGLE SYMBOLOGY

The Bible is a book that makes extensive use of symbolism; often to reflect the character of nations, peoples and empires (e.g. the 4 Beasts described in Daniel chapter 7, that represent 4 great Gentile Kingdoms and Empires; namely Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome - see Daniel 7:1-14).  The Eagle is a potent symbol of power - the eagle is the supreme aerial predator; taking a position of superiority above the creatures of this earth. It speaks of supremacy and elevation, as it looks down upon other creatures. The eagle soars effortlessly at great heights. It possesses incerdible powers of vision; spotting prey from afar. The first of the great empires of the ancient world was Babylon, whom Daniel seen as a LION with EAGLE'S WINGS (Daniel 7:4). We note that, having its wings plucked ...
"...it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it"
The symbol of the beast was infused into the nature of man.

GOD BORE ISRAEL ON EAGLE'S WINGS

In symbolic terms, God described His intervention in bringing the Children of Israel out of Bondage in Egypt through the Red Sea Exodus, as having BORNE Israel upon EAGLE'S WINGS.
