2 Peter 1:19-21

2 Peter 1:19-21 (KJV) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Gog, Magog and The Russian Chapters of Ezekiel

Recent movement by Russia to regain lost territory in Crimea and the potential for further gains in Ukraine and Moldova, heightens interest in the geopolitical and military role of Russia as far as Bible Prophecy is concerned. Indeed it is a timely reminder of the need to revisit what the Bible declares concerning the latter days, and in particular, the lead up to the conclusion of this age. To some Russia is a spent force since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. However, like the bear Russia is so famously symbolised as, make no mistake about the potency of the sleeping giant that now appears to be awakening from its slumber. Russia remains a formidable superpower and will continue to be so. Furthermore, the Bible indicates that Russia will indeed play a leading role in the build up to the climax of this age and Armageddon.

GOG and THE LAND OF MAGOG

Around 2,600 years ago, the prophet Ezekiel (whose name means: "God will strengthen")  was used by God to reveal the nations that would come against Israel in the "latter days"; i.e. the end times that will immediately precede the return of Jesus Christ. Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 have, since the mid 19th century, become known amongst many Bible scholars as the "Russian Chapters" of Ezekiel.

Ezek 38:1-2 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him

RUSSIA GOES BACK TO ORIGINAL IDENTITY

The insignia of Russia tells a fascinating and enlightening story. Since the collapse of the communist Soviet Union in 1991, Russia has reverted back to its original imperial identity. The Two-Headed Eagle, which was originally the symbol of Byzantium and the Holy Roman Empire, was adopted into Russia as it took on the mantle of the THIRD ROME. As such it carries the identifying symbol of the revived and remnant of the 4th beast of Daniel - the ROMAN EMPIRE. Indeed the royal line of Russia took on the title CZAR or TSAR; literally CAESAR in Russian. Russia also has a history that is linked with ESAU (whose name was EDOM, meaning RED).

THE COLOSSUS OF THE NORTH

No other country on earth encompasses EAST and WEST - RUSSIA is the Great expanse of the North; stretching from Scandinavia across Europe, Asia and at the extreme North East, a short stepping stone from Alaska and North America.
