Bible Prophecy - A More Sure Word

2 Peter 1:19-21 (KJV) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
The term "MORE SURE" is translated from the Greek βέβαιος bebaios (beb'-ai-os), meaning firm, steadfast, stable. (Mickelson's Enhanced Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries, G949). This word is derived from the root word βάσις basis (bas'-ece) n. meaning (1.) a pace ("base"), or (2) (by implication) the foot [from baino "to walk"] KJV: foot G939. So, Prophecy literally serves as a BASIS or FOUNDATION upon which one can place full trust, confidence and belief - literally, something one can stand on with confidence. Prophecy is a solid platform upon which the truth of God's promises rests. In fact, it could be said that the entire Bible is a book of PROPHECY, for it declares beforehand the plan and purpose of God. Furthermore, the Bible identifies the TESTIMONY of JESUS CHRIST as the very SPIRIT (essence, purpose, central theme) of PROPHECY. All prophecy starts with and is completed in JESUS CHRIST; from Genesis to Revelation...

Rev 19:10 ... And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

The Words of Jesus Christ...
Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
The key lies in Jesus' statement... "ALL THINGS MUST BE FULFILLED". We know that the Bible is the truth because everything pre-ordained and pre-stated by God has been, is in the process of being, and will be fulfilled - exactly! God is exacting in His declared Word.

INSPIRED BY GOD...
Bible Prophecy is one of the most thrilling, fascinating and compelling proofs that the Bible is indeed what it claims to be - the inspired Word of Almighty God.
2Tim 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
The word "INSPIRED" is translated from the original Greek θεόπνευστος theopneustos (theh-op'-nyoo-stos), meaning "divinely breathed in" KJV: given by inspiration of God (literally "God breathed"). (Mickelson's Enhanced Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries) G2315. As breath gives life to one physically, God has breathed or infused into His Word LIFE. We can see a parallel with the formation of Adam and God breathing INTO him the breath of life; thus man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7).

GOD DECLARES THE END FROM THE BEGINNING - HISTORY PRE-WRITTEN...Man is inherently limited in that he can only record events after the fact - we call this history. However, the true God knows all things BEFOREHAND. He is in control of the PAST, PRESENT and FUTURE. He declares HISTORY (i.e. HIS-STORY) before it takes place ...

Isa 46:9-10
Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Only the one true, Almighty (omnipotent) and All-Knowing (Omniscient) God can accurately and consistently declare the future with absolute certainty. This is the God of the Bible. No other claimed holy writings can do this! THIS MAKES THE BIBLE, AND THEREFORE THE GOD DESCRIBED IN THE BIBLE, UNIQUE.
